Jula Jane

Jula Jane

CEO | Visionary

A natural born entrepreneur, Jula first got into business at the early age of six when she opened a thriving lemonade stand. Fast forward a few decades and many successful ventures later and the formula for her success remains the same today: killer location, high-quality ingredients, and over-the-top service that keeps you coming back for more.

The raw office space that is now Café 44, was made possible through her talents as a real estate broker, interior designer, and skilled negotiator. From conceptualization to launch, she’s had a hand in every aspect of Café 44, and continues to make an impact. Having traveled the world and dined on everything from street food in the Middle East to Michelin-rated in London, she brings an in-depth knowledge of cuisine and culture to the table.

Joe Quintero

Joe Quintero

GM | ‘The Face’

Joe has a rare gift for remembering your name and ‘go-to’ order, but what stands out the most is his welcoming smile and ability to make you feel special. When you walk in the door and he nods your way, you know he’s got you covered.

Having worked from the ground up as a food-runner, server, key-holder and ‘damn good bartender’, Joe is not only a great manager, but also an excellent mentor. From Atlanta to Australia, he’s made his mark on the industry and patrons worldwide. Though front of house is his calling, don’t be surprised if you find him in the kitchen whipping up his ridiculously good Cubanos, Coconut Curry, or Spicy Chicken Chili.

Joe has a few select passions in life: crafting elaborate beverages, indulging in Cuban cuisine, and styling his iconic facial hair. The term “hipster” has been thrown around, but we’re not here to judge.

James Carnill

James Carnill

AGM | Assistant General Manager

When you hear the phrase “never met a stranger,” one person comes to mind. James is as extroverted as extroverts get, with a deep appreciation for a job which allows him to socialize to his heart’s content. He’s also great for reaching things in high places and ensuring the coffee never runs out! Whether it be a fancy beverage or just a smile, James has you covered. Hospitality is his middle name. (Not really, but you get the point!)

Beyond that, he has a passion for helping others, no matter how small the deed may seem. From mowing lawns as a teenager to building playgrounds for the underprivileged, James does what he can to leave a positive mark on the places he’s been. His work at Café 44 has been no exception. Working at the café, where James gets to meet new people every day, has been the most satisfying time of his life. We definitely didn’t bribe him to say that!

Shanice Williamson

Shanice Williamson

Senior Line Cook

Though she generally prefers to steer clear of the public eye, her talents cannot go unpraised! Just because Shanice is quiet doesn’t mean she’s to be underestimated. Some would describe her as the calm in the chaos. Like all ninjas, Shanice has been trained to flourish under pressure. Her hands and ladle are always steady, even during the lunch rush—no small feat if you’ve ever visited the café during Taco Tuesday.

She also makes some of the best soups you’ll ever taste. Her secret: each recipe is unique, like composing a song. When you eat the soup, it’s almost like hearing a sonata for the first time. We would apologize for bragging about her culinary skills if it wasn’t true. Above all, Shanice is the go-to person in times when the rest of the team needs someone to listen or a good laugh. Be sure to peek through the kitchen window and wave to her the next time you stop by!
