CEO | Visionary
A natural born entrepreneur, Jula first got into business at the early age of six when she opened a thriving lemonade stand. Fast forward a few decades and many successful ventures later and the formula for her success remains the same today: killer location, high-quality ingredients, and over-the-top service that keeps you coming back for more.
The raw office space that is now Café 44, was made possible through her talents as a real estate broker, interior designer, and skilled negotiator. From conceptualization to launch, she’s had a hand in every aspect of Café 44, and continues to make an impact. Having traveled the world and dined on everything from street food in the Middle East to Michelin-rated in London, she brings an in-depth knowledge of cuisine and culture to the table.
GM | ‘The Face’
Joe has a rare gift for remembering your name and ‘go-to’ order, but what stands out the most is his welcoming smile and ability to make you feel special. When you walk in the door and he nods your way, you know he’s got you covered.
Having worked from the ground up as a food-runner, server, key-holder and ‘damn good bartender’, Joe is not only a great manager, but also an excellent mentor. From Atlanta to Australia, he’s made his mark on the industry and patrons worldwide. Though front of house is his calling, don’t be surprised if you find him in the kitchen whipping up his ridiculously good Cubanos, Coconut Curry, or Spicy Chicken Chili.
Joe has a few select passions in life: crafting elaborate beverages, indulging in Cuban cuisine, and styling his iconic facial hair. The term “hipster” has been thrown around, but we’re not here to judge.
Chef | ‘Mama C’
An Atlanta native with a culinary passion as fiery as her hair, Courtney has garnered quite a following. From her coveted butternut squash soup and Mama C’s Caesar dressing (simply to live for), to her fluffy biscuits and Sunrise on the Potomac breakfast—the best in Old Town—don’t be surprised if you see a line out the door.
Courtney’s globetrotting and adventurous spirit shine through in her travel-inspired cuisine. Her delectable dishes will take you on a trip around the world without you even having to leave the table. And, just wait until you try her famous Chocolate Chip Cookies, Lemon Pound Cake, and “Crack Bars.” (Thank goodness calories don’t count at Café 44!)
